With this year's winter exhibition, fairy-tale photographs by Katerina Belkina are moving into the Stadtpfarrkirche Müncheberg. After participating in an exhibition in Neuhardenberg Castle, the artist, who lives and works in Werder (Havel), is now presenting her mysteriously painted photographs in a solo exhibition in Märkisch-Oderland for the first time. The Artworks from the Dream Walkers series were created between 2017 and 2021 and show the title characters of Grimm's fairytale world. Whether staged as a self-portrait or with the help of actors, the photographs open up an iconographic view of the stories about the princess, the bed-shaker, the porridge taster or even the lover of the golden ball. Sometimes it's a small object, sometimes the composition in the pictures that tell us the fairy tale and make us ask: what can the characters still tell us in the 21st century?
Belkina, born in Russia, was awarded the Lucas Cranach Prize in 2015 and the Hasselblad Masters Award in 2016. Her Artworks can also currently be seen in "Werkschau #3" at Galerie Z22 in Berlin, and she is also involved in the Biennale for digital art in Brazil until January 7th.
