5th KunstBienale Isernhagen with 23 artists and 60 works of art from the fields of painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, textiles and video.
Exhibition period: 17th-20th May 2024
The kunstverein burgwedel-isernhagen is presenting contemporary art for the 5th time as part of the Whitsun Bienale Isernhagen. This year, 23 artists were selected who will show their artistic statement on the topic of Perspectives 2024 for three days on 800 square meters in the Isernhagenhof cultural barn.
Like a seismograph, art records the tremors of society. It reflects people's desires and individual truths. Artists dissect social developments of the time. Political upheavals and social challenges have always been strong indicators of new aspects in all areas of life. Social upheavals and the new living environments that arise from them have a formative effect on the field of fine and applied arts and are at the same time a reflection of social change. In this way, artistic expression can provide answers to pressing current questions or ask new questions from a different perspective. Art sets points of view, but at the same time shows new perspectives on reality and possibilities for development.
The path of artistic discussion and change of perspective offers the chance for new perspectives as well as insights and perspectives for necessary changes.
Perspective - a term from mathematics and fine arts as well as philosophy. The term perspective is derived from the Latin word “perspicere” (to see through or look through). Perspective has been an important representational element in art for thousands of years. The first approaches to perspective drawing can already be found in ancient cave paintings, such as the 30,000-year-old Franco-Cantrab images that can be admired in the Chauvet cave (France). Other aspects of perspective in social interaction are the point of view and the point of view, the orientation in a world that is increasingly perceived as uncertain and confusing. What changes does society have to prepare for in view of increasing digitalization on the one hand and the threat to ecosystems on the other? Even a small step to the side changes the viewer's perspective and can provide a completely new view of something. We know from politics and everyday life how difficult it can be to leave your own point of view and change your perspective.
