What are the reasons why contemporary artists resort to works of art history?
We are exploring this exciting question in the first group exhibition in the premises of Coderitter GmbH. Curator Oliver Kratz has brought together works by the following Dresden artists:
Lars Kohl (painting), Karen Gäbler (painting), Mirjam Moritz (graphic) und Ekkehard Tischendorf (printmaking).
In addition to the Dresden positions, national artists are also involved: Cranach Prize winner and Hasselblad Master Katerina Belkina (Werder/Havel), sculptor Sebastian Hertrich (Nürnberg), technology pioneer and science artist Olaf Schirm (Berlin) and the award-winning photographer Matthew Hamon (USA).
These refer to works by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Da Vinci, Picasso, Degas, Max Klinger, the motif of the “Madonna with Child” as well as the landscape painting of Carl Cowen Schirm.
The artists will be present in person on the evening of the vernissage.
