Photographer Katerina Belkina presents a new series of works
Empty Spaces
This time, the focus is on a person who closely resembles herself. She is searching for a cozy place, a home, in the city. The heroine experiences different emotions towards her environment — from love to hatred. According to the photographer, the city is an artificial substance, yet it possesses a powerful attraction. The larger the metropolis, the stronger the attraction. However, without people, it will sooner or later turn into emptiness, which also exists within us. Still confused? Katya knows how to complicate things. In reality, it’s simple — in her works, a sad red-haired girl is depicted against urban landscapes. In each frame, she attempts to communicate with the city, or rather, creates the illusion of communication through her sad and empty gaze.
